Dear Visitors,

Uptown and Shape Properties is committed to ensuring the safety of its guests, tenants, and staff. We have been closely monitoring the current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and recommendations from the Vancouver Island Health Authority, the BC Centre for Disease Control and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

As such, we have taken increased precautionary steps to ensure our property is dutifully sanitized. In addition to regular daily cleaning within all of our buildings we have increased the frequency for sanitization of all touch points, deployed a dedicated cleaner to sanitize all common and frequently used surfaces during operating hours, and conduct a deep clean and full sanitization of all common areas overnight, each evening. We have provided signage to remind guests that are not well to remain home and not visit the property. We will continue with these measures until recommendations are revised or modified by health authorities.

Effective Monday March 16, we will be providing our tenants the option to reduce their operating hours to:

Monday – Saturday  11:00am – 6:00pm

Sunday’s 11:00am to 5:00pm

It is important to mention that certain retailers and offices have decided to close for an undetermined period. As a result, we ask that you check opening hours with retailers directly. These hours will remain in place until Sunday, March 29, 2020 and will advise at that time if this change will be extended. Access hours to the property will remain unchanged. We understand there are some services, including essential services (Walmart, Shoppers Drugmart), and tenants that may or must operate as per their usual hours of business, and we will continue to support them in their approach. Please visit shopuptown.ca for updates on tenant specific closures and operating hours.

We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation carefully and will continue to stay up to date on the latest information and recommendations from the Island Health Authority, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the World Health Organization. If you have any concerns, we recommend you contact your personal health care provider. Thank you again for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to reconnect if you have further questions.

Thank you for your understanding and collaboration.

What measures have you implemented at your centre to deal with COVID-19?

We have taken increased precautionary steps to ensure our property is dutifully sanitized.

We’re taking several precautionary actions, including providing our tenants the possibility of reducing their operating hours to (effective Monday, March 16):

  • Monday to Saturday: 11:00am – 6:00pm
  • Sunday: 11:00 am – 5:00pm

These proposed reduced hours will remain in place for two weeks, at which point we will re-evaluate the situation.  Access hours to the property will remain unchanged as we understand there are some services, including essential services, and tenants that may or must operate as per their usual hours of business, and we will continue to support them in their approach. This includes certain retailers who have decided to close their store for an undetermined period. We ask that you check opening hours with retailers directly.

We are relying on the collective cooperation of people who may be showing symptoms associated with COVID-19 not to frequent public places and, as recommended by governmental authorities, remain at home.  We invite you to click on the following link to learn more on the Community-based measures to mitigate the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Canada.
